What is the Alpha Course? Why join in?
The Alpha Course is a welcoming space to explore faith and life’s big questions in a relaxed, supportive environment. Each session offers an opportunity to connect over a shared meal, followed by an engaging talk and open discussions where you can explore topics like:
Who is Jesus, and why is He significant?
What does Jesus’ death mean for us?
How and why should I pray?
How does God guide us?
Alpha is open to everyone, whether you’re new to faith, curious, or looking to go deeper. By joining the Alpha Course at Pantygwydr, you will embark on a journey of discovery in a community that values openness and belonging.
I asked Justin, a friend who has attended several of the Alpha Courses run at Pantygwydr, why he would recommend it:
How did you first hear about Alpha at Pantygwydr?
From our neighbours Matt and Clare Jones. They live nearby in Uplands and have help run the course at Pantygwydr.
Tell us about your first impressions- was it easy to join in and ask questions?
It was during lockdown so at that time it was on Zoom. Matt and Clare were the leaders and were excellent in promoting discussion. The atmosphere was designed to welcome questions. Now we can meet up in the church building, and chat and discuss together.
Did you find the sessions helpful? Did you have a favourite session?
All were good but my favourite was the one including the Anglican Priest who had served time in prison. Really interesting.
Last but not least-- what about the food?
Downside of my first course being on Zoom was there was no food but I have attended a couple of courses since. Matt Carter, the Pastor often cooks. What can I say-the Baptist Church's gain was the Restaurant industries loss! Wonderful food!!
